Rebill soft line can drift from cycle 1

How to run thisMIDs3 steps
CalculatorRebill descriptor drift · Calculator lives in the articleOpen

Checkout boards one soft line. Cycle-2 MIT can print another if the CRM product, gateway template, or MID swap changed the string. Cardholders who recognized cycle 1 suddenly see a stranger. Type rebills and mismatches in the same window.

Pair: Rebill descriptor drift on MIDs. What the line should say: billing descriptor. Phone/URL on that line: descriptor phone / URL.

What you type

Rebills — MIT captures in the window (same MID / offer set you are auditing).

Mismatches — rebills whose soft line or hard DBA differs from the enrolled checkout line (pull gateway settlement text, not the CRM product title alone).

Drift share = mismatches ÷ rebills. Fix the template before you invent a “normal” unrecognized rate.

What not to do

Do not assume cycle 1 soft line survives product renames. Do not invent a dispute rate from drift. Do not mix first-sale soft/hard enrollment misses into this rebill-only count. Do not treat alert DBA seats as proof the soft line matched.

Related: MIDs, billing descriptor, descriptor phone / URL, prevention stack.

Procedure

  1. Type rebill count for the window.
  2. Type soft/hard mismatches against the enrolled checkout line.
  3. Fix the template before inventing an unrecognized rate.

Failure modes

  • Assuming cycle 1 soft line survives product renames.
  • Inventing a dispute rate from drift.
  • Mixing first-sale enrollment misses into the rebill-only count.

Worked example

None on this page yet. When one lands it will be a real case: what broke, the number, and what changed. Not a composite.

Glossary

FAQ

Is this the billing-descriptor checklist?
Related. [Put the DBA on the statement](/manuals/billing-descriptor) is what the line should say. This page counts rebills where soft or hard already drifted.
Does soft vs hard enrollment cover this?
Related map. Soft/hard mismatch on the first sale is one job. Drift that appears only on MIT cycle 2+ is this count.
Can I invent a healthy drift percent?
No. Type rebills and mismatches. We invent none.
