Payout hold can end before clawback

How to run thisTraffic3 steps
CalculatorPayout hold days · Calculator lives in the articleOpen

Affiliate payout hold can end while chargeback clawback lag is still open. If hold days are shorter than CB lag, CPA $ is already out when the CB lands. Type hold days, CPA $, and CB lag days.

Pair: Payout hold days on Traffic. Clawback window: affiliate CB clawback. Cap leftover: offer cap leftover.

What you type

Hold days — written days the network holds CPA before payout (offer / network sheet).

CPA $ — payout dollars per conversion at risk (typed from the offer).

CB lag days — days after sale when a chargeback can still claw the payout (typed from terms / history).

Days exposed = max(0, CB lag − hold). Cash at risk per conversion = CPA when hold is shorter than lag; else zero. Lengthen hold or cut CPA when cash at risk is material — do not invent a hold chip.

What not to do

Do not invent hold days. Do not mix card refund windows into affiliate clawback lag. Do not treat a paid CPA as safe while lag remains. Do not ignore zero-hold offers when CB lag is long.

Related: Traffic, affiliate CB clawback, offer cap leftover, lead-cap exhaustion.

Procedure

  1. Type payout hold days and CPA $.
  2. Type CB / clawback lag days.
  3. Lengthen hold or cut CPA when cash at risk is material.

Failure modes

  • Inventing hold days.
  • Mixing card refund windows into affiliate clawback lag.
  • Treating a paid CPA as safe while lag remains.

Worked example
