Partial auth is not capture mismatch
Requested auth $ minus partial auth $ is the open gap. Gap % = gap ÷ requested × 100. Type both.
Pair: Partial auth gap on Payments. Capture hold: capture vs auth amount. Split ship: partial / multi-capture.
What you type
Requested auth $ — dollars you asked the issuer to hold.
Partial auth $ — dollars the issuer actually approved (partial authorization).
Gap $ = requested − partial. Gap % = gap ÷ requested × 100. Lower cart or re-auth when gap % is fat — do not invent a gap chip.
What not to do
Do not invent gap $. Do not treat a later capture short as a partial auth. Do not mix split-ship captures into the first partial hold. Do not average every MID when one owns the hole.
