Marketplace holdback is not the processor reserve

How to run thisPayments3 steps
CalculatorHoldback vs reserve · Calculator lives in the articleOpen

A ClickBank-class vendor holdback sits in the marketplace, not on the NMI statement. A rolling reserve sits on the processor. Adding “earned” from the marketplace as if the reserve were the only lock is how you scale into a freeze.

Pair: Holdback vs reserve on Payments. Processor shapes: capped vs rolling. Release clock: reserve release. Batch float: payout delay.

What you type

Marketplace holdback $ on the vendor dashboard for this window (allowance, reserve, or delayed payout — the dollars they actually hold).

Processor reserve $ withheld on this MID (rolling or capped outstanding). Zero is allowed if this MID has none.

The calculator sums the locks and names which is fatter. We invent no holdback percent and no typical days-to-release.

What not to do

Do not treat marketplace “available” as bank cash. Do not paste a blog 10% holdback. Do not mix affiliate CPA clawback into this lock — late CB vs window. Do not skip the processor waterfall.

Related: Payments, capped vs rolling, sold vs settled, marketplace payout lag, fee waterfall.

Procedure

  1. Type holdback $ from the vendor dashboard.
  2. Type processor reserve $ outstanding.
  3. Bid after both locks. Neither is a fee.

Failure modes

  • Bidding marketplace earned as bank cash.
  • Inventing a typical holdback percent.
  • Treating holdback as a processing fee.

Worked example

None on this page yet. When one lands it will be a real case: what broke, the number, and what changed. Not a composite.

FAQ

Is this capped vs rolling?
No. [Capped vs rolling](/manuals/capped-vs-rolling) compares two processor reserve shapes. This page is a marketplace/affiliate hold next to that reserve.
Is holdback a processing fee?
No. It is withheld vendor payout. Same as a reserve — not spendable this week.
Can I bid media on marketplace “earned”?
No. Bid after both locks and fees. See sold vs settled for processor stages.
