Presentment currency is not settlement cash

How to run thisPayments4 steps
GuideFX settlement — claim map · Calculator lives in the articleOpen

Presentment currency is what the shopper was charged. Settlement currency is what hits your processor settlement (often after conversion). Bank cash is still after fees and holds. Mixing CRM sold in euros into a USD media bid is how you invent contribution.

Pair: FX settlement — claim map on Payments. Stage names: sold vs settled. Named FX fee dollars: fee waterfall. Float days: payout delay.

The fork

Same currency end to end. Presentment = settlement currency. FX markup may still be zero — type the statement, do not invent a “no FX” chip.

Cross-currency presentment. Shopper paid in one currency; you settle in another. The conversion rate and any FX fee are statement facts — we invent none.

Multi-MID / multi-currency. Each seat can settle differently. Do not blend CRM sold across currencies into one bid number.

Refunds and chargebacks. Credits often reverse in the original presentment path. Do not assume your settlement FX on the sale matches the reverse.

What not to do

Do not invent a conversion rate or FX markup percent. Do not bid on presentment CRM sold as if it were bank cash. Do not paste a blog “typical FX” into contribution. Do not treat DDP duties as FX. Do not skip reading which currency each MID settles in.

Procedure

  1. Name presentment currency vs settlement currency per MID.
  2. Type statement settlement totals — invent no rate.
  3. Type FX fee dollars on fee-waterfall separately.
  4. Match reverse lines when refunds / CBs post.

Failure modes

  • Bidding on presentment CRM sold as bank cash.
  • Inventing a conversion rate or FX markup chip.
  • Assuming refund FX matches sale FX without reading.
  • Mixing DDP duties into settlement FX.

FAQ

Can I bid on CRM sold in the shopper’s currency?
No. Bid what settled into your settlement currency after conversion and FX fees. CRM sold is presentment, not bank cash.
Is the FX line on the fee waterfall this page?
Related. [Fee waterfall](/manuals/fee-waterfall) types the FX fee dollars. This page is presentment vs settlement currency ownership.
Is this sold-vs-settled?
No. [Sold vs settled](/manuals/sold-vs-settled) names cash stages. This page is when currency conversion sits between those stages.
