Authorize.net partial settle is not NMI partial settle
Partial-settled $ ÷ captured $ is the Auth.net settle gap. Type both from one batch.
Pair: Partial-settle gap on Payments. NMI twin: partial-settle gap. Earlier door: partial capture gap.
What you type
Partial-settled $ — Dollars that settled short of full capture on that Authorize.net batch.
Captured $ — Captured dollars in the same Authorize.net batch window.
Gap % = partial-settled ÷ captured × 100. Fat gap % means fix split-settle / multi-box rules — do not invent a gap chip.
What not to do
Do not invent gap %. Do not paste an NMI or Braintree batch into Auth.net fields. Do not treat partial-capture leftovers as settle gap. Do not blend MIDs when one terminal owns the short settle.

Procedure
- Type partial-settled $ and captured $.
- Read gap %.
- Fix multi-capture / settle rules when gap % is material.
Failure modes
- Inventing gap %.
- Dumping NMI or Braintree CSV into Auth.net fields.
- Treating partial-capture as partial-settle.
Worked example
None on this page yet. When one lands it will be a real case: what broke, the number, and what changed. Not a composite.
