Spend refunds to keep a threshold

How to run thisRefunds4 steps
CalculatorRefund to save a MID · Calculator lives in the articleOpen

When open tickets would use more primary CBs than this MID still has under the written threshold, refund the weak ones today. After the bank chargeback posts, the refund does not put the case back under the line.

Pair: Refund dollars to protect a threshold on Refunds.

How to read it

Type primary CBs, approved sales, this agreement’s threshold % (we do not fill it), open dispute dollars, and average ticket. If open cases exceed headroom, refund. Store credit is a different door — store credit vs refund. Threshold monitoring stays on chargebacks.

What not to do

Do not refund after the CB posted and call it ratio protection. Do not blend MIDs. Do not make refunding a habit when headroom is fine.

Related: Refunds, Chargebacks, one helpdesk ticket vs a CB.

Procedure

  1. Count primary CBs and sales on this MID.
  2. See how many CBs still fit.
  3. Count open tickets.
  4. If tickets exceed headroom, refund the weak ones today.

Failure modes

  • Refunding after the CB already posted.
  • Blending MIDs so the dying one looks fine.
  • Saving $200 and losing the MID.

Worked example

None on this page yet. When one lands it will be a real case: what broke, the number, and what changed. Not a composite.

FAQ

Does refunding after the chargeback post spare the ratio?
No. Primary already counted. Refund then is goods and fee theater.
Do I blend MIDs for headroom?
No. Count primary CBs and sales on the MID that is dying.
Is store credit the same as this refund?
No. The bank path needs a processor refund. See store credit vs refund.
