Refund this ticket before it becomes a CB

How to run thisRefunds4 steps
CalculatorHelpdesk refund vs CB on the MID · Calculator lives in the articleOpen

A shopper is in the helpdesk. They will file if you do not credit. CS is not pricing fight EV. They are asking whether this ticket refund is cheaper than one more primary CB on a MID that may already be tight.

Pair: Helpdesk refund vs CB on the MID on Refunds. Open-dispute pile: refund to save a MID. After an alert fires: alert refund vs fight.

What you type

Ticket $ on this conversation.

CB fee $ if they file and you lose (processor fee). The sale is gone either way if they file — the fee and the ratio are the extras.

Primary CBs so far, approved sales, and written threshold % on this MID, this window.

Refund now = ticket. Lose-CB = ticket + CB fee. Headroom = threshold × sales − primary CBs.

  • Would trip if one more primary CB uses the last case (or you are already over) → refund the ticket today.
  • Refund to protect if rate already uses 75%+ of threshold → refund; the MID is the constraint.
  • Headroom can take a CB only when cases remain and rate used is under that band. Cash still prefers refund over lose-CB. Keep the sale only if you believe they will not file.

Credit the card (processor refund), not store credit, if the job is sparing a bank CB. Store credit vs refund.

What not to do

Do not wait for the alert so you can “price fight.” Do not blend MIDs. Do not refund after the CB posted and call it protection. Do not paste a network “good” %.

Procedure

  1. Type this ticket $ and the CB fee if they file.
  2. Type primary CBs, sales, and written threshold on this MID.
  3. Refund when one more CB would trip or rate used is already high.
  4. Processor refund, not store credit, if the job is sparing a bank CB.

Failure modes

  • Waiting for the alert to price fight EV.
  • Blending MIDs.
  • Refunding after the CB posted.
  • Inventing a network good %.

Worked example

None on this page yet. When one lands it will be a real case: what broke, the number, and what changed. Not a composite.

FAQ

Is this refund-to-save-MID?
No. [Refund to save a MID](/manuals/refund-to-save-mid) sizes the whole open-dispute pile vs remaining cases. This page is one CS ticket before an alert or bank CB.
Is this alert refund vs fight?
No. [Alert refund vs fight](/manuals/alert-refund-vs-fight) runs after an Ethoca / CDRN alert with that fee. This page has no alert fee — CS still holds the ticket.
Do I invent a threshold?
No. Type the written MPA / program line. We fill none.
