Fraud review queue has a cash cost

How to run thisChargebacks3 steps
CalculatorFraud review queue cost · Calculator lives in the articleOpen

Forter-class review holds stop ship until a human clears the order. Holds save some chargebacks and burn abandon revenue plus labor. Type holds, abandon %, AOV, review labor $, and CB $ saved.

Pair: Fraud review queue cost on Chargebacks. Block vs issuer: fraud block vs issuer. Alert spend: alert refund vs fight.

What you type

Holds — orders sent to manual review in the window.

Abandon % — measured share of those holds that never completed / cancelled while held.

AOV — average order dollars on the held set.

Review labor $ — fully loaded dollars spent reviewing that queue (hours × wage you type offline).

CB $ saved — chargeback dollars you attribute to catching bad orders in that queue (typed, not invented).

Abandoned $ = holds × (abandon % ÷ 100) × AOV. Review EV = CB $ saved − abandoned $ − labor $. Negative EV means the queue costs more than it saves — do not invent a block %.

What not to do

Do not invent abandon % or CB $ saved. Do not fold issuer declines into this hold count. Do not treat auto-blocks with no human time as zero labor without checking. Do not skip abandon when celebrating CB $ saved.

Related: Chargebacks, fraud block vs issuer, alert refund vs fight, refund to deflect.

Procedure

  1. Type holds, measured abandon %, and AOV.
  2. Type review labor $ and CB $ saved.
  3. Read review EV. Negative means the queue costs more than it saves.

Failure modes

  • Inventing abandon percent or CB $ saved.
  • Folding issuer declines into the hold count.
  • Celebrating CB $ saved while ignoring abandon.

Worked example

None on this page yet. When one lands it will be a real case: what broke, the number, and what changed. Not a composite.

FAQ

Is this fraud block vs issuer decline?
Related split. [Fraud block vs issuer](/manuals/fraud-block-vs-issuer) separates tool stops from issuer nos. This page prices the manual review queue on holds.
Is abandon percent a default?
No. Type the abandon percent you measured on held orders. We invent none.
Can I invent chargebacks saved?
No. Type CB $ you actually avoided on reviewed holds — or leave the EV unread.
