Find the BIN that owns the chargebacks
A MID ratio can look “fine” while one BIN (or issuer family) owns most of the primary chargebacks. Concentration is when that cut’s share of CBs sits ahead of its share of approved sales. Fix the cut. Do not buy another MID to dilute the chart.
Pair: BIN cut concentration on Chargebacks. Overall headroom stays on rate vs threshold.
How to read the cut
Pull primary CBs and approved sales for one BIN (first six) or a named issuer family, and the same window for the whole MID. Read CB share, sales share, and the gap. The calculator flags concentrated when the gap is 10 points or more. Then cut or harden that traffic — 3DS, AVS, refunds, or stop the source — before you average the MID.
What not to do
Do not average BINs into one pretty rate. Do not treat this as a “send BIN X to MID Y” map. Do not invent a typical concentration percent.

Procedure
- Pick one BIN or issuer family on this MID.
- Count primary CBs and approved sales for the cut and the MID.
- Read CB share vs sales share.
- Cut or harden the concentrated cut before you dilute the chart.
Failure modes
- Averaging BINs into one MID rate.
- Treating this as a route-BIN-to-MID map.
- Inventing a typical concentration percent.
Worked example
None on this page yet. When one lands it will be a real case: what broke, the number, and what changed. Not a composite.

FAQ
- Is a high CB rate on a small BIN the same as concentration?
- Rate and share are different. Concentration is when that cut’s share of CBs runs ahead of its share of sales.
- Can I average BINs into one MID chart?
- No. Averaging hides the cut that is killing the ratio. Type the cut.
- Does this tell me which MID to route the BIN to?
- No. That is routing affinity. This page only names concentration risk on the MID you already run.
